For all you outdoor adventurers and craft beer connoisseurs, we’ve got the inside scoop on an epic weekend getaway that combines the best of both worlds. Welcome to Bellingham, Washington – the ultimate basecamp for hiking and brewery hopping in the Pacific Northwest!
Just a swift 90 minute drive from Seattle, this scenic town is surrounded by towering forests, rocky bluffs, and the sparkling Salish Sea. The endless trails offer nonstop vistas of the San Juan Islands and North Cascades. And with over a dozen breweries in town, you can reward all that calorie-burning with delicious craft beverages.
Let’s start planning the perfect fun filled, action-packed weekend…
Day 1: Rise and shine early to take on the iconic Chain Lakes Loop, a moderate 11-mile trek that winds through mossy woods past a series of crystal-clear alpine lakes. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy lakeside – we recommend the sandwiches at Mount Bakery.
After the peaceful serenity of the trail, head to Aslan Brewing for your first aprés beer and wood-fired pizza on the patio. Then walk a few blocks to Chuckanut Brewery, a local favorite since 1988. End your first day relaxing fireside at Lost Giants Cider taproom.
Day 2: Get ready for stunning ocean vistas on the Larrabee State Park Trail, a 6-mile ridge hike along the Salish Sea. At the top, the panoramic views of the San Juan Islands and Mt. Baker will take your breath away!
Next, head to Wander Brewing and Greenwich Park Beer Porch, two awesome breweries side-by-side in an industrial park. We recommend Wander’s NW pale ale and hazy IPA. Wrap up your hiking & drinking extravaganza at Kulshan Brewery, which offers 24 beers on tap and trendy backyard hangout spot.
With its beautiful surroundings and delicious craft beer, Bellingham is an amazing Pacific Northwest getaway.
